Issue Description

As a satellite hurtles toward Earth, endangering millions of lives, Sunturion makes a decision to help Iron Man.

This issue consists of two stories. "Sunfall" is the conclusion of the previous issue's storyline, in which Sunturion and Iron Man attempt to protect Sarasota, Florida from the large falling chunks of the Sar Well space station. "Apocalypse Then" recaps the time when Tony Stark first invented his Iron Man armor as a prisoner of war in Viet Nam, then tells the story of how he first met Rhodey Rhodes, the Army helicopter pilot who helped him escape and later became one of his best friends.

Iron Man Volume 1

Iron Man Vol. 1 is Iron Man's first ongoing solo series. The series was launched following the success of the Iron Man stories in Tales of Suspense and continues from the one shot Iron Man and Sub-Mariner which picks up the story arc from Tales of Suspense #99. Many of the classic story lines and characters that are part of comic history today originate from this volume. The series started in 1968 and lasted all the way to 1996. Continues in Iron Man Vol.2.

Created by writers Stan Lee and Larry Lieber and artists Don Heck and Jack Kirby, Iron Man's first appearance was in Tales of Suspense #39.
