Issue Description
Mark Moonrider is drunk. When the bartender refuses service, until the bar tab is paid, Mark Moonrider destroys the bar. A mysterious woman, Fyre, pays for both the damages and the tab, then ushers Mark Moonrider away. Maya, Serifan, and Vykin, The Black, wander the streets. Serifan, and Vykin, The Black; try to come to grips with the change in their individual timelines. Maya transports them far from the maddening crowds. Maya aids Vykin, the Black, in focusing his newfound powers of clarity and vision. Vykin, The Black sees the Dark, surrounding the world.
Serifan fears the Dark will get inside him, and turn him to their side anew. Maya assures Serifan that he has nothing to fear from the Dark. Serifan stands his ground, and finds that Maya's words are true. Big Bear is accosted in the park by street toughs. Big Bear easily dispatches his would-be attackers. Big Bear finds Beautiful Dreamer casting illusions, for the amusement of a child. The Dark manifests itself as Beautiful Dreamer's lost child. Big Bear destroys the "child". A crowd of fearful witnesses, led by police officers, surround Beautiful Dreamer, and Big Bear.
Beautiful Dreamer casts an illusion to disperse the crowd, then conceals herself, and Big Bear, with a second illusion. Beautiful Dreamer breaks down, and seeks comfort in Big Bear's arms. Maya reveals the history of the Dark, to Serifan, and Vykin, The Black. With the coming age of the Kali Yuga, the Dark believes the time for conquest has arrived. Knowing that Maya would assemble the Forever People to stand against the Dark, the Dark preemptively struck at the Forever People, altering their timeline. Serifan, and Vykin, the Black emerged from the Dark's crucible stronger than ever.
The same cannot be said for the other Forever People. Maya fears that Mark Moonrider may already be lost. Maya reveals the truth about herself to Vykin, The Black. Donald Bergman, a tortured author, falls into the hands of the Dark. Mark Moonrider feels ill after his amorous coupling with Fyre. Mark Moonrider tries to cleanse himself, but Fyre comes for him in the shower. Mark Moonrider realizes, too late, that Fyre is an agent of the Dark. Fyre finishes her seduction of Mark Moonrider, turning him into an agent of the Dark.

Volume Description
House AdForever People was a DC Comics six issue limited series from writer J. M. DeMatteis and artists Paris Cullins and Karl Kesel.
DeMatteis expanded upon the origins of the Forever People, he revealed that the Forever People were humans born on Earth, doomed to die, before being brought to New Genesis.
The series follows them as they return to Earth to fight an oncoming sentient force known as "The Darkness". They are aided by someone named Maya, who turns out to be the consciousnesses of their Mother Box.
