Issue Description
Reed is helping cure Willie Evans Jr. of a cosmic radiation coma- but is it the boy's father who's the real problem? Can the team defeat Evan Sr.'s FF doppelgängers and cure his mutant son?
And a Child Shall Slay Them!Nightmarish doubles of the Fantastic Four appear, and it is up to their real-life counterparts to stop them! The creatures have been created by a boy named Willie Evans Jr., whose father had been exposed to the same cosmic rays that the FF did, and have subsequently given his child the awesome abilities!
NotesWillie Evans Jr. was considered being included by John Byrne in a new teen X-group with Kitty Pryde, which of course eventually became the New Mutants. In an early stat sheet of Kitty, Byrne writes: "The concept here is that Ariel should be not so much a new member of the X-Men per se, but rather the first member of a SECOND team, a kind of 'X-Men in Training' team, which could possibly also include that black kid from FF #203. They'd all (However many there are-say 5?) wear this modernized version of the original x-costume, and each would occasionally go on missions with the first team".Mark Gruenwald's assistant editor credit taken from letters page header.Features the Hostess Twinkies Cakes ad, Iron Man In An Irresistible Force!Fantastic Four (1961)

Volume Description
The Fantastic Four were created in response to DC's Justice League and soon became the Silver Age's premier superhero team. Stan Lee and Jack Kirby collaborated on the opening 102 issues of the magazine, and told the adventures of Mr. Fantastic, the Thing, Invisible Woman and the Human Torch. This first volume ran through issue #416, before it was rebooted as Fantastic Four (vol. 2) (13 issues) as part of the short lived Heroes Reborn arc. The series was restarted again with issue 1 in Fantastic Four (vol. 3) before it reverted back to the original numbering with issue #500.
