Issue Description

The Sub-Mariner has declared war on the surface world as vengeance for what Mister Fantastic has done to Sue and Franklin. The Fantastic Four springs into action to fight Namor and his band of sea monsters! With the help of Thundra, can the FF protect the shore and its inhabitants while attempting to save the marriage of Reed and Sue?

Namor and his army, with the Invisible Woman by his side attacks New York, in order to defeat Mr. Fantastic and the Fantastic Four (alongside with Thundra and Medusa). After a long battle between all of them, Sue realizes that she still loves Reed and everything finishes well. At the end it was all a plan made by Black bolt with Namor, Medusa and Triton's help, to put the two lovers back together.

This reconciliation represents an end to a long separation, as Sue Storm left her husband, Reed Richards, at the end of issue #130. However, it must be noted that Sue still does not return to active Fantastic Four duty until the middle of issue #159, despite Reed and her resolving their marital difficulties in this issue. Medusa will eventually then have taken Sue's place on the Fantastic Four team from FF #131 to the middle of #159 or 28.5 issues.

The Fantastic Four were created in response to DC's Justice League and soon became the Silver Age's premier superhero team. Stan Lee and Jack Kirby collaborated on the opening 102 issues of the magazine, and told the adventures of Mr. Fantastic, the Thing, Invisible Woman and the Human Torch. This first volume ran through issue #416, before it was rebooted as Fantastic Four (vol. 2) (13 issues) as part of the short lived Heroes Reborn arc. The series was restarted again with issue 1 in Fantastic Four (vol. 3) before it reverted back to the original numbering with issue #500.
