Daredevil drinks alone on Christmas Eve. Fellow patrons at the bar share tales of loneliness, heartbreak, and regret. A seductive barfly isn't what she seems. Ann Nocenti's Daredevil at its best- dream-like, dizzying, and positively stunning!
Daredevil is in a bar on Christmas Eve when he is approached by a beautiful woman. She hits on him and talks to him about desire, all the while keeping him distracted from what else happens in the bar. It is too late for Daredevil to notice that two brothers are fighting at one of the tables and the one brother kills the other. When Daredevil realizes what is happening, the woman turns into Mephisto, and reveals that his Christmas gift to Daredevil is the gift of uselessness in the face of true evil. He then throws Daredevil out of the bar where he is helped to his feet by two bums, who treat him with kindness, and make Daredevil realize there is still good in the world
