At last Karl Latek had a real plane to fly against the Luftwaffe's Messerschmitts. He had piloted his dated Polish PZL-11 against the Germans and been outclassed.

Now his Hurricane was a joy to handle, and he was on level terms with the murderers of his family and friends. All he wanted was vengeance - and nothing and nobody would stop him.

Introduction

Rounding off this year's complement of Silver Collection issues is this curio from November 1990. Obviously, the clue is in the title as to what this story is all about. Our eponymous hero, Lieutenant Karl Latek, is an endearing, if slightly eccentric figure - but he is a man who will never give up. His determination to keep fighting the enemy, no matter the cost to his own personal safety, makes his apparent recklessness all the more interesting.

Volume Description

British company D.C. Thomson & Co. began publishing Commando: War Stories in 1961 mostly focusing, as the name hints, on war stories from WWII and WWI respectively. This was extended to other wars and conflicts later on and since 1993, beginning with issue #2691, the series was called Commando: For Action and Adventure.

Currently D.C. Thomson publishes four issues a fortnight (eight issues a month).
