Issue Description
With only three Viper pilots available (Adama, Starbuck, and Zak), Adama launches a plan to set off a nuclear weapon on the Basestar that is hovering near the Galactica, the Battlestar obscured within the wreckage of a sixty-year-old battle. Neither Adama nor Starbuck trusting Zak. Baltar discovers a room on Medivac 12 that proves the returners were created by the Cylons. The room is filled with partially grown clones in human-sized test tubes.
Adama is successful in detonating the nuclear weapon, but the resulting explosion damages all three Vipers, Starbuck’s fatally so. Zak quickly positions his Viper near Starbuck’s and does a soft eject. He pulls her from her Viper and places her in the seat of his Viper, leaving himself drifting in space near the other Viper. The badly damaged Viper explodes, seemingly killing Zak.
As Starbuck and Adama rejoin each other, multiple Cylon Raiders approach their position; however, they soon discover these older model Cylons follow the orders of humans. The story ends with Adama leading the Raiders back to Galactica.

Volume Description
There are a few BSG 2003 comic series, including BSG: Pegasus, BSG: Season Zero and also just the series simply entitled Battlestar Galactica (what gets confusing with the last one is that there were two with that title at the time of publishing, one about the origonal series and one about the remake and the titles did not specify. ) This is the one based on the 2003 remake.
In many ways, the BSG 2003 comic is like an AU fanfic. (Much in the same way the remake itself is in comparison to the original). It has the same characters and very basic storyline, but the relationships are tweaked and they events are very different. Boomer's character is the most different and as a rule, characters such as Geta and Tigh barely make an appearance. But it's still a good read.
