Hardcover collecting issues #1-7 of Batman written by Scott Snyder, and illustrated by Greg Capullo.
The storyline continues past the hardcover collection however, through issues #8-12.
The story features the Court of Owls, a secret organization that has been in Gotham City for many years. The Court recruits child performers from circuses such as Haley's Circus, only to train and transform them into their assassins, known as Talons. They will try to claim Gotham as theirs and it will be Batman's job to stop them.
The "Night of the Owls" storyline is a crossover event which takes place in a single night within the "The Court of Owls" story arc.
