In the tradition of "The Batman Nobody Knows" from Batman #250 and the episode "Legends of the Dark Knight" from The New Batman Adventures, this tale features Hugo Strange interviewing a number of inmates and criminals who have encountered the Batman, each of whom describe a very different kind of Dark Knight. One sees him as the grim vigilante from The Dark Knight Returns, Two-Face sees him as the blue-and-gray Bronze Age hero, and others see the Batmen of Batman Beyond, Batman, Inc, Batman: The Animated Series, and more. The subjective responses intrigue Hugo, who looks forward to a Bat-encounter of his own.
