Issue Description
OverviewA fantastic extra-sized 50th issue featuring the fracas between Batgirl and Batman! For months, Batgirl's feelings of resentment toward Batman have risen from simmer to boil. Now, fueled by the emotion-charging drug Soul, Batgirl explodes in a fury of fists and feet. That's right: It's Batgirl vs. Batman - the knockdown, drag-out battle you thought you'd never see!
Spoilers
Batgirl and Batman confront one another in a cemetery, and just to make things interesting, the mad scientist Doctor Death exposes them to the drug Soul in a concentrated form. They fight one another across the city, with Robin and Nightwing in pursuit, Oracle watching from the tower. Robin manages to trick Doctor Death into yielding an antidote to Soul, and Batman/Batgirl's fight and chase ends in a plunge from a bridge, after which the two of them simply embrace, something Cain never allowed. Batgirl says her loyalty will always be to the bat and what it means, and Batman welcomes her back into the fold.

Volume Description
Starring: Cassandra Cain as Batgirl. This series continued in Batgirl (2008).
Cassandra Cain became the first Batgirl to star in a regular series after her successful appearances alongside Batman in 1999's No Man's Land saga. The new series was plotted by Scott Peterson and Kelley Puckett, with the latter handling the script, and featured art by Damion Scott. Batgirl followed Cassandra's attempt to become a full fledged crime fighter as Batman and Oracle (the original Batgirl) watched over her and provided help when needed. The opening issue dealt with Cassandra's troubled past and her brave attempt to overcome her upbringing as a would-be assassin.
