Issue Description
Batgirl discovers that an all-girl meta-human street gang called The Lost Girls is supplying the designer drug Soul on Gotham's streets. It seems that Soul has different effects on different people - good people enter a beatific trance, while bad people become dangerously enraged. Batgirl soon finds herself in trouble with the gang and when Oracle finds that everyone else is unavailable, she reluctantly has to send in Nightwing, whom she recently split up with, to rescue Batgirl. However, Batgirl has picked up on the fact that Oracle is hurt about the end of this relationship and when Nightwing appears on the scene, she throws him out of the window (thankfully on the ground floor), no longer needing a rescue.Batgirl (2000)

Volume Description
Starring: Cassandra Cain as Batgirl. This series continued in Batgirl (2008).
Cassandra Cain became the first Batgirl to star in a regular series after her successful appearances alongside Batman in 1999's No Man's Land saga. The new series was plotted by Scott Peterson and Kelley Puckett, with the latter handling the script, and featured art by Damion Scott. Batgirl followed Cassandra's attempt to become a full fledged crime fighter as Batman and Oracle (the original Batgirl) watched over her and provided help when needed. The opening issue dealt with Cassandra's troubled past and her brave attempt to overcome her upbringing as a would-be assassin.
