The background of Striker is revealed in this issue. This issue explores his family background and upbringing and his mother's plans for him. Also, an enemy from Hank Pym's past returns to confront him and his new students. With their cover blown how will the public react to the next generation of Avengers?
Avengers Academy 5While getting a midnight snack Striker runs into Jocasta and tells him about the week. First he flashbacks to when the Avengers Academy is practicing unarmed combat with Captain Steve Rogers on Monday. After the lesson Striker reminiscent about his past when he was a child and his fame obsessed mother made him a super star get in the spotlight. He also remembers their manager named Rick who was a pedophile, but was when Striker first used his powers. Soon after his mother took him to the hospital and soon after everything changed for Striker.
Avengers Academy 5Striker was recruited by Norman Osborn soon after, but was not harmed by him like the other and was given anything he wanted. Next he flashbacks to Wednesday where Striker start to hook up with Veil and Finesse after training. Later on Friday the Avengers Academy are walking home after seeing a show when Whirlwind shows up and challenges the Hank Pym with the teens at his side. The team then fights Whirlwind with Striker finishing him with a blast of electricity, after the fight camera people and fans come toward the team and they go quickly into the mansion. The team's actions then spread across the news and the student's identities become publicly known.
After Veil goes to tell Justice when she sees her kissing Ultra-Girl. Soon after she goes to Striker's room, kisses him and ask if he wanted to have sex, but he want to at the time. Now back with Striker and Jocasta in the kitchen, Striker's mother calls to check on him. They then talk about the fight with Whirlwind and under the fact that Striker's mom planned everything smoothly as planned.

Avengers Academy Volume 1
The concept and some of the teachers are a continuation of the Avengers: The Initiative series. Reptil, Hazmat, Mettle, Striker, Veil & Finesse have been brought together under the guidance of Hank Pym. Training these youngsters in their abilities along with Justice, Tigra, Quicksilver, Speedball & Jocasta in the Infinite Mansion as the newly formed Avengers Academy he seeks to take these troubled youths and lead them down the path of good. All of these students have one thing in common; Norman Osborn only wanted to use them for their abilities to his own evil ends. Can Hank Pym and his fellow Avengers teach these youngsters and guide them in the right direction?
Following the events of Fear Itself, Veil left the team followed shortly by Jocasta. The team also moved its base of operations to the former West Coast Avengers compound in California and added new members as White Bengal, Lightspeed (of the Power Pack), X-23 and a slew of B-list teenage super heroes. This represents the new era of Avengers Academy, beginning with issue #21. The series lasted until issue 39, making it, with the 14.point one issue counted in, 40 issues in total. Many of the students from Avengers Academy returned the next month in the new Avengers Arena series.
