Issue Description
Animal Man is suddenly the most famous hero in the world, which is not helping matters in the Baker household—or stopping the horrifying debut of The Splinterfolk!
Maxine continues her search for her brother Cliff in the Red, and against the protests of Shepard and Socks she tries to make a new Cliff with organs from the organ fields. This does not work for the body looks like Cliff but does not have his soul, and quickly melts to Red. This depresses Maxine but before she can think about it Socks warns her that her mother is coming to her room and Maxine travels back to the real world. She makes it back just in time to see her mother enter the room, the pair then cuddle together for the night.
Meanwhile, Animal Man chases after Hogue, the man responsible for the mutilation of hundreds of animals. He has hm cornered but then Hogue's splinter-folk ambush the hero and Hogue buries a axe into Animal Man's shoulder, knocking him unconscious.
When Animal Man awakes, Hogue has stiched up his sholder and stolen a jug full of Animal Man's blood. Hogue then gives the blood jug to one of his Splinter-Folk to takes it to their master, who is revealed to be Brother Blood. Hogue then turns his attention back to finishing Animal Man, but just then the media erupts into the room asking Animal Man if this is a publicity stunt.

Volume Description
A New 52 series starring Animal Man. This is the second Animal Man series and the first not under the Vertigo imprint since the first series switched over at Vertigo's founding in 1993, although the character has appeared for several years in the DCU following the cancellation of his previous ongoing.
After Travel Foreman left the book following its first arc, the series saw the return of Steve Pugh who had been the main artist during the character's last volume, specifically during Jamie Delano's run which largely inspired this series.
