The battle against the Rot has left Buddy’s family in ruins, and now they must withstand another force trying to subvert him: his own celebrity!
Continued from Animal Man #6
Buddy Baker watches his movie "Tights". The movie picks up where Cliff stopped watching in Issue 6.
Chaz Grant gets out of the hospital after getting beaten up dressed as The Red Thunder, and to his surprise his ex-wife, Paige and there son Jamie are there to pick him up and take him home. There, in his messy studio apartment he is visited by a talent agent named Tom Drummond, who wants to represent Chaz.
Chaz thinks it over and agrees. He is then launched into a whirl wind of talk shows, endorsement deal and staged outings with celebrity starlets. Everything seems to be going well until he is at a party and is approached by Paige. Chaz still loves his ex-wife but she has moved on and breaks his heart again. While Chaz is leaving the party he hears a cry for help and saves a woman from being raped by a well dressed man.
The man is the studio CEO and files charges against Chaz, this leads to Chaz being dropped by Drummond, and ending his career. Whats worst Dummond owns the Red Thunder brand and Chaz can never dress up like the hero again.
Weeks later, Chaz is missing and presumed dead, but Jamie catches a piece on the news about how a masked man rescued some children from a house fire. Jamie knows his father is alive and still doing good deeds.
Buddy Baker turns off the movie looks a picture of Cliff and cries. Then the phone rings, it is Rodger, Buddy's agent. He tells Buddy he has been nominated for a academy award for best actor for Tights.
