However unbeknownst to him a sorceress for the Amethyst monarchy hid away the young princess.Now on earth she has turned 13 years old. When she is called forth she is a twenty year old woman. Can she bring forth a new age to Gemworld. Can she figure out her powers in the course of this twelve issue maxi-series ? Can she defeat Dark Opal.The first Amethyst 12-issue maxi series from writers Gary Cohn and Dan Mishkin with art from Ernie Colon. The series followed on from the preview seen in Legion of Superheroes #298 and would lead on to Amethyst Annual and a team up with Superman in DC Comics Presents #63. Eventually a 16 issue ongoing Amethyst (1985) was published along with Amethyst Special and later a 4 issue Amethyst mini series in 1987.
