Prior to 1990 when the swimsuit specials got their own series numbered by year, issues of the main Amazing Heroes series were designated on their covers as Swimsuit Specials also, though they retained the continuous numbering.

The first annual swimsuit issue was issue 115 published April 1987.The second annual swimsuit issue was issue 138 published April 1988.The third annual swimsuit issue (actually "swimsuit collection") was issue 164 published May 1989.
