Issue Description
Winston Churchill asks the Shining Knight to talk about how he teamed with the Seven Soldiers of Victory, and their battle with Dr. Doome.
The Shining Knight attacks German fighter planes, over the skies of London. The battle won, the Shining Knight returns to the side of England's Prime Minister, Winston Churchill. Summoned back to the states, the Shining Knight reflects on a past adventure with the Seven Soldiers of Victory. Doctor Doome brought forth the Roman emperor, Nero, Attila the Hun, Napoleon Bonaparte, Genghis Khan, and Alexander The Great, from the distant past. After acclimating the ruthless leaders to the present era, Doctor Doome explained his scheme.
Doctor Doome supplied each man with a temporal rod, which allowed them all to communicate with each other, as well as return them to their proper era. The Green Arrow, and Speedy, were testing a new radio communicator, in the Wall Street district of New York City. The six ruthless leaders of the past robbed an armored car. Separated from the Green Arrow, Speedy was forced to face Attila The Hun alone. Speedy was subdued. Attila The Hun stole Speedy's radio communicator. The six dictators escaped clean, with the money.
After tending to Speedy, the Green Arrow decided to assemble the Seven Soldiers of Victory, to assist on the case. The Seven Soldiers of Victory discussed the case. Through the Green Arrow's radio communicator, the Seven Soldiers of Victory were able to eavesdrop on Doctor Doome's scheme. Doctor Doome tasked the five despots with stealing five precious metals. The Seven Soldiers of Victory split up, to thwart each robbery. In Alaska, the Shining Knight thwarted Genghis Khan's platinum robbery. To elude capture, Khan used the temporal rod to return to his own era.
At the Canadian Border, the Star-Spangled Kid, and Stripesy, thwarted Napoleaon Bonaparte's gold robbery. Bonaparte was taken into custody by sanitarium guards, from Arkham Asylum, who assumed the world leader was insane. Bonaparte used the temporal rod to return to his own era. In the Florida Everglades, the Green Arrow, and Speedy, thwarted Alexander The Great's radium robbery. Alexander The Great used the temporal rod to return to his own era. In South Dakota, the Vigilante thwarted Attila The Hun's tantalum robbery. Attila The Hun used the temporal rod to return to his own era.
On Long Island, the Crimson Avenger, and Wing, thwarted Emperor Nero's uranium robbery. Nero used the temporal rod to return to his own era. The Seven Soldiers of Victory stormed Doctor Doome's castle. The Seven Soldiers of Victory weathered Doctor Doome's defenses, as they closed in on the villain. To escape the Seven Soldiers of Victory, Doctor Doome fled into the distant past. Using a temporal rod, the Seven Soldiers of Victory followed Doctor Doome, to ancient Troy. Doctor Doome convinced Odysseus, and King Agamemnon, that the Seven Soldiers of Victory were a threat to their siege of Troy.
The Seven Soldiers of Victory battled the Trojan Army. The Shining Knight reasoned with Odysseus, convincing him that Doctor Doome was the true threat. Doctor Doome used a temporal rod to return to his proper era. The Seven Soldiers of Victory used a temporal rod to follow Doctor Doome back to their proper era. En Route, Doctor Doome secretly made contact with the Shining Knight. Doctor Doome offered to return the Shining Knight to Camelot, if he betrayed the Seven Soldiers Of Victory. The Shining Knight refused. To escape the Seven Soldiers of Victory, Doctor Doome used a temporal rod to journey into the future. The Shining Knight decides not to return to the states.

Volume Description
"Come with us now to Earth-Two, and the awesome origin of the All-Star Squadron!"
Roy Thomas, Rich Buckler, Jerry Ordway (credited here as Jeremiah Ordway!) along with editor Len Wein, letterer John Costanza and colorist Carl Gafford begin the wartime adventures of the Golden-Age heroes of the DC Universe. Writer Roy Thomas is no stranger to World War II, or wartime comic book super-heroes having come off Marvel's WWII super-team, The Invaders.
The world of Earth -2 was at war. In a dimension not unlike that of the Justice League on Earth - 1, the greatest heroes of the 1940s had banded together to form the Justice Society of America, but even that wasn't enough to battle the Axis powers plaguing their society. So, at the behest of President Franklin D. Roosevelt, a new, larger team was created to help unite the war torn country. The massive All-Star Squadron was formed, setting up their headquarters in the Perisphere at the heart of New York's World's Fair.
The creative team of writer Roy Thomas and artist Rich Buckler on "All-Star Squadron" offered readers a nostalgic glimpse back in time, albeit through the slightly distorted lens of Earth-2's history. In this popular series that ran for 67 issues, readers were treated not only to the adventures of the more familiar Justice Society, but also to every other mystery man of the time and dozens of minor heroes from DC's Golden Age, including the speedster Johnny Quick, the patriotic Liberty Belle, power houses Robotman and Commander Steel, and the 1940s versions of Batman and Robin.
With Thomas'comprehensive knowledge of the heroes and history of World War II era Americana, the All-Star Squadron was a certifiable hit, even if the Earth - 2 shattering events of DC's tumultuous "Crisis on Infinite Earths" maxi series of the mid-1980s took a toll on the book's continuity.
