Issue Description

As the briefly reunited JSAers go their separate ways, Huntress and Wildcat are left alone at HQ, as she learns that he knows her true secret identity!

The Golden Age Hawkman adjourns an historic meeting of the Justice Society of America. Retired members bid their farewells, until only the current roster is left on the premises. They, too, break off to resume their civilian identities, leaving Power Girl, Wildcat and the Star-Spangled Kid to mind the headquarters. With the city seemingly quiet, the Star-Spangled Kid shuts the monitors down, just missing a sudden assault on Gotham National Bank. Overcome by boredom, Power Girl, too, takes her leave. The Strike Force lay siege to Gotham National Bank, repelling Gotham City's Police Department, with their superior armaments. Police Lieutenant James Corrigan cordons off the area, and waits for back-up. Frustrated and bored, Wildcat and the Star-Spangled Kid depart Justice Society of America headquarters.

Unbeknownst to the two heroes, a shadowy figure enters, as they exit, and re-activates the mission monitor screens. Corrigan's back-up arrives, but even Gotham's Tactical Police Squad prove no match for the Strike Force. Wildcat and the Star-Spangled Kid resume their civilian identities, and hole up at Duffy's Tavern, one of Wildcat's old haunts. When Wildcat, as Ted Grant, makes several disparaging comments about himself, an eavesdropping barfly attacks him. Ironically, the man willing to defend Grant's good name, doesn't realize he's actually fighting with Grant. A bar brawl breaks out. When the Star Spangled Kid, as Sylvester Pemberton III, sees a news report on the Strike Force's assault on the police, he drags Grant away from the fight. The two men don their costumes, and set off after the Strike Force.

Using the power of his cosmic converter belt, the Star-Spangled Kid disables the Strike Force's getaway vehicles. Though the two heroes fight valiantly, they are overwhelmed by the superior numbers of the Strike Force. Before the police can arrive on the scene, the Strike Force escapes, with Wildcat and the Star-Spangled Kid as their prisoners. Doctor Fate returns home, to the Tower Of Fate. His wife, Inza Nelson, is in a state of terror. Relieved at the arrival of her husband, Nelson points to the shadowy figure that has so upset her. Wildcat and the Star-Spangled Kid regain consciousness, in the secret lair of the Strike Force. Before they can act, they are confronted by the Huntress, who offers them an escape route. Wildcat angrily refuses. His raised voice draws the Strike Force down on them. Surrounded by the Strike Force, the three heroes steel themselves for a fight.

All - Star Comics featured the adventures of DC's original Super hero team, the Justice Society of America from issue #3 onwards. Running for an initial 57 issues, All- Star Comics was revived in the 1970's and a further 17 issues were produced - the latter issues featuring some next generation heroes as well as the original team. Among the highlights of this title are the origin and first appearance of Wonder Woman in issue #8.
