Issue Description
"New Krypton" part 3! At last! The true origin of the Guardian of Metropolis is revealed! Following directly on from last month's SUPERMAN'S PAL, JIMMY OLSEN SPECIAL #1, we learn the fantastic and sometimes terrible past of one of DC's most mysterious heroes. How did the first clone of the Golden Age Guardian come into existence at the hands of the Cadmus Project? We'll also introduce a mysterious young girl the Guardian has sworn to protect – even at the expense of the Cadmus Project, and, if need be, his very life! The comic begins when Jimmy Olsen shows up at Jim Harper's (The Guardian) home to ask him questions about Cadmus.Harper starts the story from the very beginning. As people know Cadmus had been creating all types of different creatures but the one that Harper had found was wearing a Legion of Superheroes ring and that's when he got suspicious. The book then drifts into the effects of being a clone of the real Jim Harper as he takes Jimmy back through his origin. When Harper looks further into the Cadmus project he not only finds out that Cadmus planned to destroy Superman but that they were making monstrous clones from the same DNA that he was spawned from.To preserve his own humanity he destroyed the clones..burned them alive. From the depictions shown afterwards one is to assume that Harper's daughter whom we meet during Jimmy's exit is just a clone as well.At the conclusion of it all Jimmy is still proud to know Harper and to have spoke with him,he still views him as a great hero although he thinks his legacy was built on fabrication and as for Harper he plans to come face to face with his "father's killer" the Assassin Jonathan Drew..to gain some closure.
