Following the Post-Flashpoint relaunch of the DC Universe, all-star writer Grant Morrison and artist Rags Morales started an all new volume of the historic Action Comics starring the Last Son of Krypton, Superman. The series' first arc is chronologically the earliest story told in the new universe, set a short time before the events of Justice League's first arc, which itself is set five years in the past. It features a younger Superman who, after the loss of his adoptive parents, moves to Metropolis. There, despite social stigmata towards superheroes, let alone aliens, he rises to the challenge of becoming the city's champion.
In September 2013 DC is having all its books focus on the villains because of Trinity War and Forever Evil and number them by '.1', '.2' and so on up to '.4'.
