Because prunes didn't have the best image the The California Prune and Apricot Growers Association decided to produce a promotional comic that tries to improve the image while educating the public on how prunes came to grow in California.
Brothers Louis and Pierre Pellier come over to California during the gold rush in 1848 but fail to find any gold. Pierre travels back to France, but comes back later with his wife and two trunks filled with scions or shoots of the French "petite prune d'Agen".
The comic concludes with some prune based recipes, farming, drying, and packaging methods and healthy suggestions.
