A Certain Magical Index has enjoyed an astounding number of adaptations and spin-offs in manga format as well as animation, video games and a wide variety of collector merchandise. Currently there are four ongoing manga adaptations and manga spin-offs being published in Japan!

Two anime adaptations of the main series have aired in Japan between 2008-2010, with another two anime adaptations of its manga spin-off series, A Certain Scientific Railgun – which has become its own massively popular franchise – airing from 2009-2010, and in 2013. A Certain Magical Index the Movie was also released in 2013, showing that fan support of the series holds strong! Funimation has licensed all the anime adaptations for North American distribution.
